Avani Bhende established her interior design studio in 2015, after having worked for over 15 years in the industry. Having grown up in a family of collectors, Avani was constantly surrounded by an ever-changing landscape of art and antiques. This had a large bearing on her career choice and passion for all things interiors.

After graduating in Interior Design from SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai, Avani proceeded to study Furniture Design and Antiques Connoisseurship at the Parsons School of Design in New York; followed by European Decorative Arts at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. During this time, she had the privilege to learn hands-on from various experts in the field, gain knowledge of the decorative arts and interiors in historical context, as well as develop an eye for good design, proportion and authenticity.

Combining her love for design and antiques, Avani creates bespoke interiors that reflect their owners’ personalities and feel as if they have evolved organically over time. Her love of colour and pattern influences her design approach, along with an ability to effortlessly mix custom-made furniture with carefully sourced antiques, art and collectibles. The result is homes that are timeless and beautiful, with an uncompromising attention to detail.

The studio offers a comprehensive design service, taking care of all aspects of interior architecture from spatial planning through construction, to completion. Avani works with a wide network of specialists including skilled craftsmen, artisans, suppliers and manufacturers, who are the best in their fields. Collaborating closely with a team of preferred contractors and consultants, the studio prides itself on efficient project management and guiding clients through every step of the design process, from concept to the finished result.

Avani is currently based out of Mumbai and works on residential interiors both in India and internationally. Projects include private residences in and around Mumbai, as well as international projects in London, Florence and Dubai.
